I bought a calendar book. it works fine for a few days then I loose it. I am trying to organize my files. I am 50% done but just can't seem to get through to the end. Do I need to write out a schedule the day before? any suggestions appreciated. I need a smiley face that screams Roha

Your doing better than my. My dr. told me to get organized when no one else is around so that I'm not distracted. It's not that easy. The task of organizing in itself is distracting. There are so many things to do that I can't stay focused and keep moving from one task to the other without even realizing it. If your 50% organized, your way ahead of the game on me. Be proud of yourself for getting that far along.

I found the best tool for making and keeping schedules is a computer. I use it to keep track of everything. There are scheduling programs which allow you to create even the most minor reminders. It helps in organizing your thoughts too.

I have recently gotten a PDA (personal data assistant). I absolutely love it!
For years, I have carried spiral bound notebooks with me, with my many lists. I couldn't function without my lists. But each day I have a new list page, and unless I rewrite everything some things get lost in "notebook land". Sometimes I have more than one notebook. It's bulky to carry in a store sometimes.
The PDA is always with me, like my cell phone and keys. I can set reminders; edit my lists; jot down ideas or info during the day; and so much more. I also use the program on my computer and synchronize the info on the PC with the PDA.
I'm still disorganized, but am much better!

I tried the notebook thing and all I have is a bunch of random pages of jibber! I have about 12 to-do lists and 50 pages of reminders that I couldn't find if I had to and this was after about 3 weeks. Everything's there, I just don't know where!
Then I got a PDA, now that's just as bad. I think I just need to find the right programs. I have 2 or 3 for scheduling, but I don't like any of them. The best I can do for an alarm is to repeat every day. It won't go down to the minute or even hour. I'd like something to go off 15 minutes before I have to leave for an appointment, but then keep going off until I answer to it. The ones I have won't do that. Any suggestions on good programs?

We had a dry-erase board on the fridge to write our to-do lists, and that really seemed to help. Of course the pen ran out of ink and we haven't gotten around to replacing it yet ... lol...But when we had it , it really helped. Anything more detailed than that is too...I don't know the word...overwhelming? for us. When it's nice and clear, concise, and large print, lol it makes it seem less daunting for us.

It took me several years to really appreciate a diary and now I spend ages getting just the right one big enough not to lose /compact enough to fit in the handbag (its home) plastic jacket to store things in/ and protect it to last the year timeframes in it so I can just circle what time I start and finish ( otherwise I'm harassing my husband to remember) places for names and phone numbers
my other blessing at work is my things to do book but I totally agree with the dangers of the 'turned page!' but I put down the day and time i started when I sit down as I record all the messages and its a good start to the day.

The piles of lists are half my problem. I started keeping them in notebooks, but now those are out of control, too! Not to mention the gazillion dayplanners I compulsively buy when I'm feeling overwhelmed. I'm drowning in lists and their modified forms!! When I'm out and about I call my house and leave a reminder on the machine--move laundry, put out mail. My machine beeps loudly every 30-60 seconds, so it doesn't let me rest. I try to do chores that pop into my head and then play the message to remind me what I was supposed to be doing. 1\2 your stuff is great! I'm still making lists of which lists need to go where.

I feel like I've got all these great ideas, and never get them out. One minute I want to cook, next I want to paint, then a movie comes on tv, then it's time to bathe the kids, I never get any one of those things done except get kids ready for bed (so i can crash) LOL
