Hey everyone! I'm new to actually posting, but I've been around for awhile.... So here's a little about me... I'm 23, married for a year, and VERY ADHD... or maybe it's the combined type... I've been told more than one type by different people. I work at a hospital doing registrations for MRIs, CT Scans, Ultrasounds, etc. I'm good with people so it's a good job for me. I was diagnosed when I was 17, the summer before my senior year of high school. (How they didn't know BEFORE that is beyond me... ) The difference simply being diagnosed caused was huge, and then when you added medication to it, it was like night and day. My junior year, I was the girl in the honors classes getting mostly Cs and the occasional B. An A seemed completely out of my reach. My senior year, I had a 4.0 GPA for the year... It was awesome. ;D I've had some serious ups and downs trying to deal with everything ADD/ADHD since then. Currently, I'm in a down because my mother-in-law basically told me she "didn't believe in ADD" and that my hubby (her son) shouldn't have to help me around the house. It really hurt because I really look up to her... she's like, the super mom I'd love to be, but never will be... Any advice? So, it'd be nice to meet other ADDers.. Have a great day everyone! ;D

Hi! I'm kind of new to the board as well. I've noticed that the members who are here don't post or at least check very often. Could have something to do with remembering to do it! HA!
I haven't been diagnosed (I go the 25th) yet and I'm so looking forward to finding out for sure. I'm almost scared to find out. What if I'm not? What excuse do I have then?
I know what you mean about people just thinking that you are either lazy or crazy. After all, isn't it just a matter of just doing whatever it is you have to do?! Gah! People who aren't can't conceive of what it is like. I try explaining it to them like this. Imagine that you are in a room full of people and everyone is talking to you at once. Everything that everyone has to say is important. But all that you end up hearing is one or two sentences of everything that everyone has to say. At least that's what it is like in my world.
Welcome to the board.

I am hoping to get an appointment in this week, since everyone I've contacted does not think that ADHD is really that much of a crisis issue. Dont you wish that everyone else could know what it was like to leave something in front of the door so that you won't forget it the next morning only to have to have to go to the bathroom and not only forget what you left, but also your purse? Don't worry what your mother in law says....you could be perfect, but to them, your halo never fits quite right.
