Hi! I am 40 yrs old (in Feb) & I just found out I had Adhd for my entire life. Too many reports of " She is so smart but doesn't pay attention, doesn't live up to her potential, can't hold still, doesn't apply herself". reports all thru school, add that to job organizational problems, and the messiest house in any time zone & you know what I have! I finally finished ONE whole project 2 yrs ago....a queen size crocheted (sp?) afghan for our bed.
I have now rested on those laurels for 2 yrs, grin.
In the last 3 months I have been diagnosed with Diabetes2, (THAT blew me away!) had an operation to remove cysts under my arm from a bacterial infection, changed jobs, had panic attacks so that they put me on prozac and VOILA! For the first time ever I could focus, and see things linearly. I diagnosed myself with ADD/HD & my husband has been diagnosed with it too, so we have a chaotic & messy but loving home. I wish I could just wiggle my nose & the mess would go away!
Now that I can focus I am working at a job with a Domestic Violence Shelter, it is a very rewarding job but the pay is not high, & there is LOTS of paperwork which I pray I can keep up with!
I even decided to finally pursue my dream of becoming a Psychologist so am taking my first course at the community college this summer. I am going to take it very slowly: 1 or 2 courses a semester....it may take me much longer than most people ( & I am getting a very late start) but I want to succeed at this; not end up giving up in disapointment because I bit off more than I could chew.
Anyway thank you for having this community, and for letting me be a part of it! It is SOOOO WONDERFUL to find other women with the same challenges I have!!
Sincerely,
Lilacflame
