Hello everyone. My name is Jaime and I am a 28 year old female here in Del Rio, TX....I am originally from Louisiana.
To make a looooooong story short, I've lead a rather roller coaster of a life. Presently, I am married to a wonderful (and thankfully PATIENT) husband of 1 1/2 years, no kids, 4 beautiful pets. I've been out of college and work for some time, but am presently in the process of seeking enrollment in a distance learning course to complete my bachelor's degree (more on this later).
After battleing with depression and anxiety and OCD traits for many years, I decided to seek out therapy a couple of years ago. After several months of collaboration with my counselor and family doctor, I was finally diagnosed with Inattentive ADD...with depression/anxiety, OCD. I am also a recovering BPD (borderline personality disorder) I was on meds for these for a couple of years, but have recently been set free of the need for meds, but work continually to strive to better myself in other ways. I am also a born again Christian who, after many years astray, recently rededicated my life to Christ.
So, what brings me here? Well, this is still very fresh, so please bear with me....
Without mentioning any names, I had, in the past year, become a very involved member of another very active ADD forum on the net. I was even a "super moderator" on the boards and a member of a couple of the committees there. VERY recently, heated discussions came up on various issues such as religion. Even though there was already a forum guideline in place that specifically forbid the debate of these topics, it was still happening...causing a bit of concern to several members. This compelled the admins of the board to create a new policy FORBIDDING the discussion of anything to do with religion (and a couple of other topics as well) and also forbidding the use of any reference to such in our profile signatures or forum pictures/avatars.
As a Christian, I felt very much like those who have been placed under attack for prayer in school, etc....I felt very wronged to have my beliefs slapped in my face when all I had done was try to be the best representation of Christ in those forums without EVER "preaching" or throwing my beliefs onto anyone. I felt like I couldn't be ME...like I had to hide my identity as a Christian in order to stay a member there.
So....without further adeu, I resigned my position there, and decided to look for support forums where I could feel free to be the Christian I am.
I look forward to many interesting and helpful conversations here!
