Hello to all! I'm a newly officially diagnosed (but self-diagnosed for many years prior ) ADHD mom with at least two, possible three ADHD kids (only the youngest has been officially diagnosed with ADHD, but, nevertheless, it's not so hard to tell with the other two, as well!) In addition, I've recently graduated from law school and am just starting to look for a job after being out of the job market for several years while in school.
I hope we can all help each other and am especially interested in what to expect from menopause, as all the books I've read seem to be so unoptimistic about PMS in perimenopause (I actually found mine has gotten better in the last few years as my hormones have been --surely by my age!--declining.) Also, the books I've read on women with ADHD and Menopause can only guess at what can be expected, but, likewise, seem to feel that our hormones being out of whack at that time will tend to make our ADHD worse ( please, someone, say it isn't so!!) I'm 52 and have only skipped one period so far, but found out I couldn't remember anything I had studied all that semester and it was during exam time, too. A real disaster! (I wasn't on any meds at the time.)
I've just started meds. for the first time ever several months ago, and so far like Concerta and generic methylphenidate the best; Adderall made me even more anxious than I tend to be anyhow, and also caused wild mood swings after a while. However, My son, age 15, is on Adderall and says he likes it better than Dex. or Concerta.
Gotta go, but am looking forward from hearing from all of you! We are all so different and yet so alike in many ways!
