:)Welcome to the new ADDmirableWomen message board! This is a forum where we can gather to share laughter and tears, heartaches and triumphs, stories and advice, words of wisdom, and - most importantly - be ourselves and get to know others with similar experiences. Please feel free to take a look around, introduce yourself, ask any questions you may have, bookmark us and return often. ADDmirably, Patti L. Petit Personal ADD CoachADDmirableWomen Online

Patti, I am on a few other groups that use this format, I like it better and I think others will too.

I am happy to find your new board. Having dealt with ADD/ADHD for my entire 46 years of life with and without medication. I found that most people have no idea how much this condition affect all forms of your life. Most people think ADD/ADHD is just an excuse for bad behavior. Unfortunately, They are sadly mistaken.

Hello everyone,
I am most definately an ADHD woman, and have been for 59 years. I was diagnosed about 6 years ago but decided not to take meds. I recently decided to finish my education ( so I thought) and get my Batchelors degree in Elementary Education. Now I'm working on my Masters Degree, a necessary thing for teachers in Massachusetts. This is my 2nd year as a teacher. I was a paraprofessional at the same school for 4 years prior to that. I teach emotionally and behaviorally challenged children. They are girls and boys between the ages of 9-12. I will be moving to a new class Monday and there they have a very strict behavior system, that I hope I can follow.
These children have ADD, ADHD. are BiPolar, and many others behavior problems that I don't even know about yet. Last October I finally decided that for my own health and well being, and against my family's better judgement, I would seek professional help and start taking medicine.
I'm taking Concerta 36 and will be increasing to 54 in the middle of February. My family is a little happier now. It's helping to take meds but I've got a long way to go, especially with the challenges that my students place upon me. I couldn't work with any other kinds of kids though because they don't understand me, and I don't understand them either. These kids I understand and I love my job teaching.
So long for now, I'm also cooking family dinner and need to work on lesson plans so that I can leave the house at 5PM., for fun. MULTITASKING is my life. Please feel free to email me because I also like being distracted at times, Ha, Ha.
